A song that changed the world

Bob Marley's friend and songwriter, Vincent Ford, died today in Jamaica...he is the writer of what might be one of the greatest songs ever written: No Woman no Cry, a Reggae classic. May he rest in peace.

To welcome in the new year, I have posted a live performance by Bob Marley singing the song at a concert. It is amazing...Marley died almost 28 years ago, and yet his music only seems to grow in popularity.

"In this great future, you can't forget your past, so dry your tears, I say"

Although he gives her hope by the words .. but there is something refers to the sadness in this song .. i don't know how!
BTW, Happy New Year C.H. :)

Happy New Year, Violet!

Iraqis got to ring in the New Year about 11 hours before us Californians, lol, but it is a New Year all the same.

The song does refer to some sadness, but it is about overcoming the obstacles, cheering up, and looking to the future. I would say it is my favorite song, and Bob Marley's Legend album is one of the best ever made :)

Heh... thanks for posting that link, CH!

My Dad was a big Bob Marley fan when I was a little kid back in the 1970s... this song brings back a lot of memories for me :)

Bob Marley is the greatest. I own 13 cassettes of his music. I think that is all there is. Time to get them on newer medium now I guess. The tapes are getting brittle.

AA,

I just got the album "legend" for Christmas...I have almost all of Marley's music via iPod, but I needed to actually own the greatest album ever made.
